Maidstone Ramblers

Thankyou in showing an interest in Maidstone Ramblers.

If you like to keep active, be in the company of friendly welcoming people, then you have come to the right place.

A rolling two monthly programme of walks is always available so it is easy to pick one to come an join us. You will always find walks on Sundays and Wednesdays and some on other days of the week.  Although we are a “Maidstone” Group we offer walks throughout Kent and into East Sussex.

Please feel free to join some of our walks before you need to consider membership. When planning to join one of our walks it is important to understand where the start point is before you set out.

Leaders always choose the nearest postcode and sometimes this is spot on, however in rural areas the nearest postcode is the nearest house or business and may be some distance from the actual start point. This is why a grid reference is also provided, along with the name of the car park or the road for street parking.

One way to clarify the exact start point is to use https://www.streetmap.co.uk and enter the grid reference. Your destination is then indicated on maps with varying levels of detail.  You can use https://www.google.co.uk/maps  and enter a postcode but this may only identify that the car park or road is a little way away (but at least you know).

https://www.instantstreetview.com and a postcode allows you to view the area before you arrive.

While your sat nav will get you 98% of the way there, it is frustrating if you are not able to find the precise starting place. The leader’s mobile phone is usually quoted but this is not always possible.

Once with Ramblers you are part of a national organisation and can also walk with other Kent groups or nationwide. Watch a video here.
